L2.0 FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR COURSE-STEPS 1 - 3
1. Evaluate Skills and Check Prerequisites
Confirm prerequisites are met: you must be 18 years or older, have a valid participant certificate for the program you wish to teach, and successfully complete a skills evaluation.
2. Fundamentals of Instruction
Complete the Fundamentals of Instruction online component (8 hrs*), and a classroom component (14 hrs 30 min) focused on the application of fundamentals.
3. Discipline-Specific Classroom Component
Attend the First Aid & CPR discipline-specific classroom component (14 hrs 30 min), which focuses on the specific skills of that program.
4. Teaching Experience
Complete the Teaching Experience online module (30-45 min*) and a classroom component with the support of a Teaching Experience Supervisor.
5. Certification

L2.1 FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR TRANSFER (Previous experience as an educator)
Instructor candidates who qualify for this transfer pathway are entering into the Instructor Development Program with previous experience as an educator (elementary or secondary level). They will follow the Instructor Development Program however they will not be required to complete Step 2: Fundamentals of Instruction - Classroom Component. Candidates holding a current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor or a HIGH FIVE Trainer certification qualify for this pathway.
1. Evaluate Skills and Check Prerequisites
Confirm prerequisites are met: you must be 18 years or older, have a valid participant certificate for the program you wish to teach, submit proof of certification as an educator (See above requirements), and successfully complete a skills evaluation.
2. Fundamentals of Instruction
Complete the Fundamentals of Instruction online component (8 hrs*). The classroom component is not required for this transfer option.
3. Discipline-Specific Classroom Component
Attend the First Aid & CPR discipline-specific classroom component (14 hrs 30 min), which focuses on the specific skills of that program.
4. Teaching Experience
Complete the Teaching Experience online module (30-45 min*) and a classroom component with the support of a Teaching Experience Supervisor.
5. Certification

Instructor candidates who qualify for this transfer pathway are entering into the Instructor Development Program with current instructor level certification through another recognized First Aid agency. They will follow the Instructor Development Program however they will not be required to complete Step 3: Discipline Specific Classroom Component. Transfer candidates are not required to complete step 3 but must successfully complete steps 1, 2, and 4. Certification is valid for three years.

Confirm prerequisites are met: you must be 18 years or older, have a valid participant certificate for the program you wish to teach, a valid instructor instructor certificate through a recognized first aid agency, and successfully complete a skills evaluation.

Complete the Fundamentals of Instruction online component (8 hrs*), and a classroom component (14 hrs 30 min) focused on the application of fundamentals.
3. Discipline-Specific Classroom Component
Not required for this transfer option.
